Professional Reading Grants requests must
1. Be a book or a one-year subscription to a professional journal directly related to applying teacher’s primary teaching or extra-curricular assignment and/or a publication required for a study group.
2. Provide all necessary purchasing information to allow efficient ordering.
Guidelines:
1. Excluding study group materials, funding is limited to $50 per individual excluding handling charges. If you are requesting more than one title, submit a separate application for each.
2. Awards will be made provided the reading material relates to the work plan established by the Teacher Center's Policy Board for this given year and on first-come-first-serve basis until funding limit is exhausted.
3. Applicants are encouraged to order from Barnes and Noble if at all possible.
4. It is understood that materials purchased by the Tioga County Teacher Center are the property of the Teacher Center. However, if there is no request for that item, the teacher may house it in his/her possession until such time that it is requested.
5. Applicants are encouraged to share the book or subscription with others.
6. The purpose of the grant supports the concept of “school as a learning community.”
