Camp Mercy 2023 Employment Application

Please read this application in its entirety. Counselors are responsible for knowing Camp Mercy's guidelines and expectations.

We at Camp Mercy want to do something radical: have a summer job that intentionally makes us saints. Counselors will be guaranteed a fun and exciting summer, learning what it means to be a missionary for the Catholic Church right in their own backyard. We expect counselors to approach the summer with a desire to give their summer to God, to lead others to Christ while growing in their own knowledge and love of Christ and the Catholic Church's teachings, and to serve as a positive Catholic role model for the children who will be in their care.

Camp Counselors are committed to the whole Camp Mercy experience- we begin our days in prayer, we serve the children in our classes, and then we come back together each afternoon to share a meal, learn more about the faith through amazing speakers, and spend time with Our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration.

Take the leap and join us!

Camp Mercy is a Catholic summer camp that encourages both instructors and campers to grow in faith and love of Christ.  Our campers grow in their faith through the guidance of young, enthusiastic Catholic instructors who serve as role models in a fun and safe environment.  Our instructors have the opportunity to grow in their love of Christ through daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and theology classes, and by working in a community of young Catholics.

There are a lot of great summer jobs out there- if you are just looking for just another summer job, please apply for one of them. If you are looking for an easy summer earning lots of money, please apply elsewhere- with modest tuition for campers, we offer $10/hour (but you get paid for holy hour and lunch time, as well as lunch provided!). If you are open to giving your summer to God and spending the summer as a missionary for Christ right here in your own community, during and outside of work hours, Camp Mercy might be the place for you. We ask our instructors  to be open to spending it teaching children to know and love Christ; and to have a desire to grow in their own faith and love of Christ, all while discerning the vocation to which God is calling them. Please read all of the expectations of our instructors before applying for a position. We want to assemble a team of instructors who share our philosophy.

Below are responsibilities of staff members, in order of importance.  Instructors shall:

     1. Keep our children safe.

     2. Serve as positive Catholic role models for our children.

     3. Provide sound spiritual instruction and example.

     4. Be punctual, supportive and show initiative.

     5. Be an example of fun and excitement.

“I am third” is a motto by which instructors shall conduct themselves. If you have hesitations about your willingness to put your personal desires on hold for the needs of the children, please do not apply. A document explaining the Professional Code of Ethics for Camp Mercy follows for you to review and sign as part of your application.

Our appearance is important. We assume that, if hired, you will show up for work looking clean and presentable, as you will be the face of the Church to all who you meet.

Please keep in mind that assignments fluctuate frequently and flexibility is a must. All work assignments are at the discretion of the Director and may change based on the needs of a particular camp.

If you find everything herein appealing, please apply. This is an amazing and exciting experience provided you are willing to open your heart to growing in relationship with Christ and willing to turn your summer over to God!

We will be in touch with you after receiving your application to let you know where we stand in the hiring process. Once applications have been reviewed, those qualified will be contacted for an interview.  If you are invited to interview, you will be required to create and present a lesson plan for a class of your choosing from the 2023 schedule on our website.

We look forward to learning more about you through this process and pray that the Holy Spirit guides us in building a great team for this summer. Thank you for your interest in working at Camp Mercy.
