Latinos In Transit (LIT) is continuing its scholarship program to support Latinos and other minorities in their pursuit of educational advancement. The purpose of this scholarship is to create opportunities for underserved and/or underrepresented individuals pursuing degrees and/or certifications from accredited educational institutions in a public transit-related field of study such as, but not limited to, business administration or management, marketing, finance, project management, urban or transportation planning, engineering, etc. 

Application Timeline 

  • Application Opens: March 22, 2024
  • Application Closes: May 31, 2024
  • Recipient Notification: July 5, 2024
  • Recipient Award Ceremony (Optional): September 12-14, 2024 during LIT Leadership Summit 

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants for the program must meet the following requirements:
 
1. Pursuing a degree/certification in a transportation related field (i.e. transportation engineering, planning, project or construction management, communications, business, finance, or in the field of environmental planning and science).
2. Desire to work in the public transit/ transportation sector. 
3. Possess U.S. citizenship or other legal status to work and/or study in the U.S.
4. Identify as a person from an underserved and/or underrepresented group.
5. Submit a completed application with all the information requested below.
 

General Information 

All applicants meeting the required criteria will be considered. Eligibility will not be determined by academic performance and/or GPA. Prior public transit/transportation work experience is preferred but optional. 

Note: Individuals who are currently or previously employed by Latinos In Transit, held office, or served on the Latino In Transit Board of Directors, as well as their family members (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and past scholarship recipients, are not eligible to apply for the 2024 scholarship application. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
