The LIT Leadership Academy (LITLA) program is offered by Latinos In Transit and is designed for career development in the transit industry. It is curated and facilitated by transportation industry leaders, ensuring a high-quality learning experience. LITLA offers a comprehensive and structured approach to developing leadership skills in the public transportation industry. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience through the capstone project and provides an excellent opportunity for career advancement in the field. Applications are due by close of business on January 13, 2025.
Program Tracks
The program consists of four virtual training and development tracks:
- Making of An Executive
- Leading in Middle Management
- New Careers in Transit
- Transit Board Leadership
Modules
Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of public transportation. The curriculum covers management practices, finance, procurement, labor relations, and regulatory compliance. Each area consists of five modules.
Virtual Program Schedule
The program runs for five months, starting with an orientation in March 2025. One module is held each month, with each module lasting 3.5 hours. The training will be conducted virtually by industry leaders.
Capstone Project
To graduate from the academy, participants are required to complete a capstone project. The capstone project will involve an in-person presentation. The presentation for the capstone project will take place on October 2 to 4, during the LIT Leadership Summit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Paying participants will receive complimentary registration as part of your program fee. Diamante, Oro and Plata Corporate member participants will receive a discounted rate for summit registration.
Graduation
An in-person graduation will also take place at the Leadership Summit following successfully completing the presentation.
Eligibility
Transit industry employees seeking to move into executive leadership, middle management, are new to the transit industry, or transit board members seeking more knowledge of the transit industry are encouraged to apply. Time Commitment: At least 3.5 hours per month between April to October 2025, with an orientation in March.
