Agreement

As an incoming member of the Board of Directors of the Online News Association, I agree to the following, effective for my complete term, Jan. 1, 2024, and ending Dec. 31, 2025:

To be committed to editorial independence, journalistic excellence, freedom of expression and freedom of access in digital media.
To be committed to developing and supporting a new generation of digital journalists through ONA’s programs, particularly its annual conference, the Online Journalism Awards, professional and leadership development, ONA Local events, training, publications and partnerships with other media or technology organizations.
To familiarize myself with the association history and bylaws, available for review at http://journalists.org/about/accountability/.
To contribute directly to the organization’s fundraising drives and be prepared to make ONA my most significant annual charitable contribution. (ONA asks for 100 percent board participation.)
To chair or serve on ad hoc committees; organize and/or host local events; and to be prepared to be tapped for election for one of the four board officer positions (President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer), dependent on interest, skillset or membership category.
To be a representative or spokesperson for ONA at industry-related events when necessary and to promote ONA events, programs and trainings where appropriate through your websites, blogs and social networks.
To recuse myself from all Board discussions or voting where I have a personal, business or financial interest.

I hereby acknowledge that I have received a copy of the Conflict of Interest and Code of Ethics policies of the Online News Association (the “policies”) and that I have read and understood its terms. To the best of my knowledge, except as disclosed below, I do not have a conflict of interest, as defined in the policy, requiring disclosure under the policy.
