Mercado Booth Application 2019
Thank you for your interest in being a part of the 2019 Swallows Day Mercado! The Mercado provides mercantile opportunities for non-profit organizations, commercial vendors, and food vendors to sell their wares to an estimated 15,000 attendees during and after the Swallows Day Parade. The Mercado includes vendor booths (merchandise and food), children's area in Heritage Park and beer and wine sales. (Beer and wine sales by the Fiesta Association only.)
The Swallows Day Mercado is a family oriented event. All items displayed and/or offered for sale are subject to review by the SJCFA Mercado Committee. Objectionable materials WILL NOT be approved for sale. Objectionable materials consist of: Inappropriate content items, balloons, ANY type of toy guns, i.e.: silly string, rubber band guns, marshmallow poppers, or projectile items. Remember that there are horses in the parade which can be easily spooked by loud noises.
Vendors may begin booth setup at 6:00 a.m. Booths must be ready for business by 9:00 a.m. and REMAIN set up until 5:00 p.m. Booth inspections by the Health Department or OCFA, where required, will be done at approximately 8:00 a.m.
Food vendors must use the shared sinks provided by the Mercado Committee. The cost for the sinks is included in the application fee. In general, the Health Dept. will not approve sinks provided by vendors.
Items containing the official S.J.C.F.A. logo, the wording “Fiesta de las Golondrinas," “San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association,” and/or “Fiesta Association” MAY NOT be displayed nor offered for sale. There will be no exceptions.
ALL VENDORS (Selling Merchandise or Food): The City of San Juan Capistrano requires a one day Business license for this event. Please contact: Ros Len Clemente with the City at 949-443-6390 to obtain the license. The deadline is March 10, 2019.
FOOD VENDORS - You will need a Health Permit. Please contact Leslie Moffitt at the Orange County Health
Department at (714) 656-7198 or find the application at http://www.ocfoodinfo.com/tff. You will also need a Certificate of Insurance naming "The San Juan Fiesta Association" and "City of San Juan Capistrano" as additionally insured.
Due to limited space, and many applications being submitted, all applications will need to be approved by the Mercado Committee. We will advise you by February 25th, 2018 or sooner if you are accepted as a vendor at the Swallows Day Mercado. Local San Juan Capistrano businesses will take priority. We will issue refunds to those vendors we can not accept.
