WiVLA will award two $1,000 Educational and Cultural Fund grants for 2024, one each for a literary and a visual artist. The purpose of the awards is to provide support for specific projects that will enhance the creative development of the recipients. The selection at the April 16th program meeting will be by blind drawing from qualified applications.
A committee that includes past ECO fund winners will screen all entries to ensure that applications are complete and consistent with the intent of the award. Applications that fail this screening will not be included in the drawing.
Eligibility:
- An applicant must have been a dues-paying member for the previous two consecutive years.
- A member may submit only one application (as either a literary or visual artist) in 2024.
- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
- Previous recipients of the award are ineligible to apply.
Acceptable uses of the awards can include:
- Attending classes, workshops, or other educational opportunities
- Acquiring equipment to further creative endeavors
- Creating a community service project
- Supporting other experiences that further creative development
Responsibilities of recipients:
- Confirm and review the upcoming presentation with the WiVLA Program Chair by March 2025.
- Present an overview of the completed ECO Fund project at the April 2025 general meeting using visual material and/or a reading.
Recipients who fail to use the funds according to the guidelines are required to refund the award to WiVLA.
